2018 Apr 19

Kennesaw State University's Division of Global Affairs awarded its highest honors at the University's Fifth Annual International Awards Ceremony April 14 at the Marietta Country Club.

Kennesaw State student Samantha Rudd was a recipient of one of the event's six awards, which recognized community leaders and partners, faculty members, alumni and students who have helped advance global education.

Samantha Rudd, a history major, was awarded the Takada Scholarship for International Education as its inaugural recipient. Funded by Hideo and Karen Takada, the scholarship is dedicated specifically to fund education abroad trips outside of Western Europe.

Hazel Lika, a sociology major, received the Emerson Scholarship for the Advancement of International Education, providing financial assistance to enable her to study abroad. The scholarship is funded by Christie Emerson, assistant professor in Kennesaw State's WellStar School of Nursing, and her husband, Tom.

"We are very pleased to recognize these distinguished honorees who, each in their own way, have made significant contributions to global education," said Lance Askildson, vice provost and chief international officer.
