Kennesaw State honors student leader scholarship recipients

Ella Goode and Allisa George received the Siegel Outstanding Student Leader Scholarship, celebrating students who reflect the true spirit of servant leadership and a commitment to helping others rise alongside them. The Tumlin Rising Leader Scholarship, which honors a student who embodies living a leadership lifestyle, was awarded to Aliyah Johnson.

Kennesaw State physics student awarded Goldwater Scholarship

Kennesaw State University junior Siam Sarower has been awarded the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, one of the highest honors bestowed on undergraduate STEM students. The sixth Goldwater Scholar from KSU, Sarower was chosen from a pool of more than 5,000 college sophomores and juniors representing 445 institutions nationwide.

A meeting with fellow engineering students as a freshman set Price on his path toward research, which he pursued through KSU's First-Year Scholars program.

Kennesaw State University sophomore Angel Vasquez has been awarded a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, presented annually to the nation's top undergraduate scholars in the sciences, mathematics and engineering. "I've always had a desire to help people and learn about how physics and chemistry can explain the world, and I've enjoyed these opportunities at Kennesaw State," Vasquez said. "This scholarship is a great honor, and it feels good to know that the work is recognized."

Kennesaw State University senior Sydney Tomlin has earned a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to teach English to students in a Model United Nations program in Spain starting in September. Tomlin said she took her first Spanish class in eighth grade and has had a passion for language since.

KSU junior wins prestigious Goldwater Scholarship

Kennesaw State junior Trae Dunn, a biology major who is researching nervous system development in worms to better understand human disorders, has been awarded a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. The Goldwater Scholarship recognizes the nation's top undergraduate scholars in the sciences, mathematics and engineering. One of 396 recipients selected this year, Dunn is the third KSU student to win a Goldwater, joining Jiexi Liao in 2013 and Biya Haile in 2019.

Inspiration Abroad

A journey 3,800 miles from campus confirmed to Kennesaw State junior Brianna McBride that she is on the right path. McBride, an interactive design major, spent five weeks in Ireland on a Gilman International Scholarship, a U.S. State Department grant that helps students of limited financial means study or intern abroad. McBride immersed herself in Ireland's culture, visited historic sites and took classes in art appreciation and post-colonial literature.

Kennesaw State University's Division of Global Affairs awarded its highest honors at the University's Fifth Annual International Awards Ceremony April 14 at the Marietta Country Club. Kennesaw State students Samantha Rudd and Hazel Lika were recipients of two of the event's six awards, which recognized community leaders and partners, faculty members, alumni and students who have helped advance global education.

CarMax Auto Finance renews commitment for student scholarships

The CarMax Auto Finance Analytics Scholarship, established in 2014, provides two-year scholarships for students in business and statistics. The merit-based scholarship has served 36 undergraduate and graduate students with financial support. Each academic year, 12 students - six from the Coles College of Business and six from the College of Science and Mathematics - are awarded the scholarship. Student scholars were recently recognized by CarMax Auto Finance and the University during an on-campus luncheon.

Doctoral student awarded Udacity Google Developer Challenge Scholarship

Kennesaw State student Sanjoosh Akkineni was recently awarded the Udacity Google Developer Challenge Scholarship. Akkineni, a doctoral student in analytics and data science at Kennesaw State, is one of 50,000 individuals nationally who earned the scholarship. The scholarship provides free access to a rigorous training program and is focused on software development for mobile (Android) and web, which represent a big portion of the open roles in today's job market.

Kennesaw State students win Women in Electronics scholarship

Students in Kennesaw State's Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Techonology have received scholarships from the Atlanta Chapter of Women in Electronics. The Women in Electronics scholarship focuses on students majoring in electronics, engineering, computer science, information technology or other related fields, and is awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, and participation in extracurricular activities.

Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology scholarship recipients

The Surface Mount Technology Association (Atlanta Chapter) offers scholarships each year to students at engineering colleges in Georgia. This year they received a record number of 40 applications for scholarships from four different engineering colleges, and they selected three students to each receive a scholarship of $2,000 for academic year 2017-2018. The three students are all from the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering/Engineering Technology.
